New Destiny Update

May 17, 2009

Dear Friends:

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and New Destiny Community Church,to those who have spoken words of encouragement, who have given financially, helped with guidance or ideas and those who have expressed willingness as workers to help us launch. We are thankful to God and the work of His kingdom!

We would like to give an update:

-New Destiny Community Church is an official open Church as of April 1, 2009.
-New Destiny Community Church now has its own bank account with First Citizen’s Bank.
-New Destiny Community Church has an account with NC District for those who prefer to give through the North Carolina District. We are considered a Home Missions Church.
-We currently have financial partnership by 2 churches.
-We have had 4 individuals/families give personal support.
-New Destiny has an address (see below)
-We plan to update this blog at least twice a month.
-Melissa and I have visited 3 local churches on Wednesday nights to fellowship/meet other NC ministers.
-Recently, we gave volunteer/intern information to the 2 seminaries in Charlotte.
-We received $1000 GPH credit Grant from BGMC. (children ministry missions program)
-Recently, we applied for STL (Speed the Light) grant (possible $3500)
-Recently, we applied for NC District Endowment (possible $5000)
-We have received information from East Lincoln High School on rental process/fees. The indication is it would run $200 a week at most. This is required up front. Therefore, if we go that route I would think best to reserve the facility months at a time. Another option is to see if local empty store fronts would cut a deal since the market is slow at this time.
-Recently we calculated an estimated media/sound budget.
-Melissa and I are receiving regular Church Plant Coaching from a national revitalization coach. This has been excellent counsel and we are grateful for the words of wisdom and straight-up coaching from one who has walked in our shoes before us!
-I have transferred my Ordination Credentials from SC District to NC District.
-This past Tuesday, I met with Rev. Randall Rogers from NC District.
-Our main focus is partnership: recruiting people to be committed to praying for us and New Destiny Community Church, recruiting workers – both core team (leadership) and launch team (those who would assist us in launching New Destiny), and yes, more financial partners (churches and individuals). New Destiny needs help to launch healthy and effectively. We know God is our source. He knows those who are to team up with us. He has all the resources and finances. He knows those we are to reach. It is all for Him! Praise God, who is our main resource. Please pray for us and for His church as you read this and as the Holy Spirit leads.

Once again, thank you!

In Christ,

What if church....

Melissa and I are so excited about what God is doing in our lives! He is taking us on an incredible journey of planting New Destiny Community Church.

Tonight, Melissa saw a video clip that says so much about our thoughts and thinking about how God is creating a different kind of church in New Destiny! We believe that it is not as much about what happens inside the walls of a church building during the worship service (yes, it is still very important), but about who we are and Who we represent in our jobs, family, community - everywhere we are. Sometimes we get so busy with Church world that we do not have time to take Jesus to the world. Denver / Lake Norman NC needs to know they can have a New Destiny in Jesus!!

Blessings,

Needed: prayer partners!!

New Destiny Community Church is in motion and going forward. Recently we were approved for a BGMC Grant of a $1000 credit with GPH (Gospel Publishing House) for Church Planters. Thank you Jesus!! -- and thank you to all the Children and Children's Ministries that give to BGMC.

We have recently applied for a Speed the Light Grant. Speed the Light is a youth missions program that provides money for sound equipment, projectors, vehicles and computers for missionaries (both home-based and international.) This grant, worth up to $3500, would be an amazing blessing for New Destiny!

We at New Destiny Community Church know God is our supplier. He has all the connections, all the money -- everything we need.

Please pass the word to others about New Destiny. We still need many more workers: those that would come along with us in leadership and those who would help us "launch".

**We need prayer partners!! New Destiny needs to succeed because it is God led and God directed. This will only happen by and because of prayer. Please join us in praying for Denver NC and New Destiny. If you will commit to regularly praying for us, please post a comment or send me an email. Right now, in our beginning stages, please pray for God to raise up a team of believers who desire to work with us to reach Denver, NC. Please pray for God's favor in meeting with the communities in Denver, NC. Please pray for finances. And, please pray that in all this, God will be glorified and He will be lifted up. This is His work!!

Blessings,

Why New Destiny?

My wife Melissa and I are excited and full of expectation for all that God has for New Destiny Community Church. Church planting is a journey of a lifetime, full of anticipation and faith. It is believing before seeing everything in place.

Why New Destiny? Because there are so many people that have wandered from the truth or who have been hurt by the church. We all need something real. We all need a church of authentic people with a desire to love each other with the love of Christ. We all need a God that is big enough to give us a New Destiny for our lives. A God that is big enough to soften hearts that were hardened.

Why New Destiny? Because people need a church that is relevant, relational and radical.

Why New Destiny? Because Denver/Lake Norman NC has been growing and every indication is it will continue to grow. It is a mission field.

Why New Destiny? Because the call of God is so real in my life and in Melissa's life. We have an urgency to reach people with God's mercy, love and grace.

Isa 43:18 says, see I am doing a New Thing!!

Melissa and I believe that there is one incredible message that never changes. The gospel of Jesus and the Power of the Cross is as real today as it has ever been. We are thankful for His salvation and His Call! But we also believe that there is not just one method to reach others with the Gospel. Our desire is to rethink how we do church to how does God want church to be done at New Destiny? God has placed in our hearts to serve the community of West Lake Norman and love God. . . love people.

Why New Destiny? Because so many need to know Jesus!

Love,

PMike

Dear Friends of New Destiny

Dear friends of New Destiny:

It is with great expectation that I announce to you the launch of New Destiny – a new church in Denver, NC. The anticipated launch date is September 2009.

Lincoln County has a population of 71,894 (2006 estimate). The west Lake Norman area of Lincoln County- East Lincoln County- has a population of 33,000 with Denver having at least 10,000. An estimate of 29,085 people in Lincoln County are unclaimed for the gospel. Only 19,497 are evangelical Christian adherents. Many in the west Lake Norman area commute to Charlotte, Gastonia or Hickory. This area has shown tremendous growth and is expected to continue to grow. Recently I-485 has opened to route 16 and construction on 16 is expected to continue from Charlotte to I- 40. This will allow easier and quicker access to Charlotte from Lincoln County.
This is an American Mission Field
Melissa and I were married in September 2006. We made our home in Huntersville where Melissa had been living. We have spent much time in prayer, seeking Godly counsel and research in pursuing ministry opportunities. We have looked at moving and have looked at area churches for ministry opportunities. But we kept seeing in our area of Lake Norman/ Northwest Charlotte Metro that there was a lacking of Evangelical, Pentecostal Churches – especially Assemblies of God. We realized the call of God is right where we are. We realized that the need is in our community and God is raising us up to the challenge of planting a church. After approaching the NC District, we were advised the greatest need is Denver, NC. Our target area is the intersection of routes 73 and16. We live 7 miles / 11 minutes from this side of Denver, NC.
A Different Kind of Church
I believe we need a different kind of church. We want to create a church that will be very specific in its focus and target. We hope to be a church that will place its emphasis on communicating God’s unchanging truths to a changing culture. We desire to allow God to build His church and we will work for Him.

Why are there so many different churches? Because there are so many different types of people. One type or style of church will not reach everyone. It is our hope to build a church like no other so that another group of people can be reached with the awesome love of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your prayers and consideration in partnering with New Destiny!

Sincerely,

Michael A. Teeter

Thank You - LWCA and New Destiny Address

Melissa and I are so thankful for our church, Lake Wylie Christian Assembly, and for Pastor Gunn. We have grown so much from the covering and leadership demonstrated in this body of Christ. Yesterday, before he preached, Pastor Gunn announced our vision for New Destiny Community Church and LWCA's plan to sponsor and cover us as we journey forward. Thank you LWCA!
We still need many prayer partners, workers, and financial partners. Just today I opened a bank account for New Destiny. So, anyone is welcome to give directly to New Destiny or via the NC District.
Please feel free to contact us!
