Speed the Light (STL)

One of the areas that New Destiny Community Church gives to in our Missions giving is Speed the Light. Here is some information about STL (from STL facebook page):

Speed the Light (STL) is the student-initiated ministry that provides transportation and communications equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 150 countries around the world.

STL has its humble beginnings in 1944 when Ralph W. Harris (then head of the NYD), prayed for a way to give A/G youth the opportunity to help missionaries in their work.

Today, STL is one of the most effective missions programs in the church world. Assemblies of God students have accepted a great responsibility to voluntarily raise funds to purchase the equipment. Since its inception, STL has raised a total of $207,095,428.74 for missionary equipment around the world.

Speed the Light has one guiding principle: All assistance must go to purchase equipment directly related to evangelism ("evangelism" is defined as propagating the gospel and instructing converts). STL equipment has not been nor is presently given for promotion, solicitation, or normal administrative funds.

Helloween - First Assembly of God (Rock Hill, SC)

God is doing some amazing things through the ministry outreach Helloween. Pastor Paul Gaskin mentioned that in just one night, there was 28 salvation decisions. Pass the word and invite people to one of the nights of this outreach. A few of us are planning to go and help the next couple of Friday Nights! Also, please continue to be in prayer for this ministry.

News@norman article - highlighting New Destiny Community Church October 13, 2010

This week New Destiny Community Church was highlighted in the local paper, News@norman. Here is that article:
New Destiny Community Church is a new local church that has a heart full of God’s love and compassion to serve our community. We began last year in the home of Lead Pastor Mike and Melissa Teeter. In January of 2010, we had our first public church service at East Lincoln High School. We praise God for the first few months that we were able to utilize the high school and the many people that joined us! We launched with weekly Sunday services in April at The Club at Westport. Our services are focused on delivering a powerful message in a relevant, non-traditional , contemporary atmosphere. We are affiliated with the Assemblies of God. We invite you to join us Sunday nights at 6pm.
Over the last year, New Destiny has been involved with community events including Denver Days, 4th of July celebration and Denver’s first Christmas Parade. Just this past weekend, we were actively involved with Denver Days as a sponsor and vendor. Our guitar player Arron Council was the winner of Denver Got Talent! You may have seen us out at the Festival making balloon creations, giving out t shirts, offering face painting or handing out bottled water. Also, we support missionaries all over the world. Recently, we have had the honor of fellowship with missionaries from Mexico and Venezuela. In the coming months, we will be having outreaches to a local jail and prison. One of our highlights during the Christmas season is providing dinner and a program at a men’s prison.
We invite you to visit New Destiny Community Church. For more information, contact us at 704-947-3829 or newdestinydenver.org.
